The UN has called on Azerbaijan and Armenia to show restraint amid ongoing clashes on the border between the two countries.
The statement came from UN Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General. Farhan Haq at a briefing on Friday.
“We continue to call on the parties to show restraint, refrain from actions that increase tensions, and resolve issues through dialogue,” Farhan Haq said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense informed that on 6 August, at around 12:10 pm, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired from different caliber firearms at the Armenian positions in the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as a result of which the grass cover between the positions’ section also caught fire.
The Armenian side is carrying out countermeasures and silencing the enemy’s fire.
As of 18:00 on 6 August, the situation in the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has stabilized after the provocation carried out by the Azerbaijani side this afternoon. The fire that broke out in the intermediate area from the enemy’s shots was extinguished.

There are no victims from the Armenian side.
