The leaders of France and Azerbaijan, Emmanuel Macron and Ilham Aliyev, had a telephone conversation, and an agreement was reached on cooperation in the interests of regional stability. The press service of the Elysee Palace reported.
The leaders of France and Azerbaijan stressed the importance of the OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts to achieve regional stability.
During the conversation, Macron expressed concern over the tension in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“The Presidents discussed the situation in the region and the difficulties that need to be overcome in the light of the 9 (10) November statement, which is supported by France,” the Elysee Palace press service said.
A statement from Aliyev’s press service said that Macron had called Aliyev.
“During the conversation, the heads of state exchanged detailed views on regional issues and the trilateral statement signed on 10 November, 2020, and on the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.
“The heads of state also discussed issues related to various spheres of Azerbaijani-French bilateral relations,” the statement said.
