Representatives of the “Armenia” Alliance and a group of people are holding a protest action in front of the Prosecutor’s Office in support of Dr. Armen Charchyan.

Armen Charchyan’s lawyers submitted an urgent motion to the RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, asking him to exercise his discretionary power, to abolish detention as a measure of restraint.

Vahe Hakobyan, a representative of the “Armenia” Alliance and leader of the “Reviving Armenia” Party, told Iravaban.net that they are ready to implement any option aimed at restoring justice.

“I do not understand why Charchyan, if it were me, it could have been understood somehow. Charchyan is an intellectual, a merited doctor, today many lives depend on him, why do they take this step, it is incomprehensible to me, but it is politically clear that the state apparatus wants to commit political terror,” he said.

In response to the question whether Robert Kocharyan will join the action, Vahe Hakobyan answered, “As soon as there is a need for it, Robert Kocharyan will join, he does not avoid. We have decided that there is no need for him here yet.”

It should be reminded that Armen Charchyan, the head of “Izmirlian” medical center, the deputy candidate of “Armenia” Alliance, has been charged.

He is accused on the basis of a combination of sufficient evidence obtained in the criminal case under investigation by the RA Special Investigation Service on the fact of recording a video of him pressuring his employees during the pre-election stage of the special elections to the National Assembly, provided by Article 154.2, Part 4, Clause 2 to commit a publicly dangerous act, that is, to use official dependence to force one to vote for a party Alliance.
