Lilit Stepanyan, MP of the “My Step” faction of the National Assembly, in 2017-2018 she was an assistant to the NA deputy, and in 2018 she was elected a deputy by the territorial electoral list of constituency # 10 of the “My Step” Party Alliance. She confesses that at first she had other ideas about the deputy.

Within the framework of the “Women in the Legislature” series, Iravaban.net talked to Lilit Stepanyan about the changes taking place in the field of education and the difficulties of the deputy’s work.

– You were an assistant to the deputy, and on 9 December, 2018 you were elected a deputy yourself. How was you offered to be included in the “My Step” electoral list?

– I was Mr. Sasun Mikayelyan’s assistant. Then, while working in the National Assembly, there were acquaintances, and while compiling the lists for 2018, I received an offer to be included in the list. I was not a member of the “Civil Contract” Party at that time. As a result of the elections, I became a deputy elected from Kotayk region by a rating system.

– Mrs. Stepanyan, you graduated from YSU Faculty of International Relations, you are a PhD in political sciences. How did you get interest in the field of education turn and how you entered into the field?

“Armenian Language” and “Armenian History” subjects are very important for admission to YSU Faculty of International Relations. There are not many opportunities to work in Hrazdan. I did not have the opportunity to work at school because I did not have the qualification of a pedagogue. At that time the National Institute of Education was just being formed. I was hired as a methodologist for “Armenian History” and “Social Science” subjects. Thus I entered the National Institute of Education, where I had the honor of working from 2007 to 2018.
