Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discuss situation in NKR

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had telephone conversations on 24 November to discuss the situation in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The statement came from the Turkish President’s Office.

“During the talks, President Erdogan said that as part of the steps taken to ensure stability in the region and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, a joint monitoring center to be set up with Russia should be launched as soon as possible,” the statement said.

“The Turkish leader pointed out Azerbaijan’s ‘sensitivity’ to the return of the territories, noting that Armenia should not violate the agreement,” he said.

In addition, Erdogan did not understand why other OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs criticize efforts to establish peace in the region.

Earlier today, Putin held telephone talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which they discussed steps to implement the ceasefire agreement in Nagorno Karabakh.
