The position of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the issue of belonging to Crimea is not important, the main thing is that Russia’s interests are reliably protected.
According to RIA Novosti, Russian President Vladimir Putin made such a statement today, speaking at the “Valdai” discussion club.
“As for the Turkish president’s aspirations for Crimea, I do not know that. I am not interested in that, because Russia’s interests are reliably protected. Do not doubt it even for a second,” Putin said.
It should be reminded that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had stated that Turkey supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not recognize the “occupation” of Crimea.
The Turkish President made this statement at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Ankara.
“Turkey views Ukraine as a key country in terms of ensuring stability and security in our region. Therefore, we have always supported, will continue to support the territorial integrity, sovereignty of Ukraine. Together with Ukraine, we will continue to support the Crimean Tatars,” Erdogan said.
