Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron call for end to hostilities

Presidents of Russia, USA and France adopted a statement on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Vladimir Putin, Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump believe that hostilities in the conflict zone should be stopped immediately.

The leaders stressed that they “condemn in the strongest possible terms the escalation of violence taking place on the line of contact in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.” They called for “an immediate cessation of hostilities between the armed forces of the parties involved.”

“We also call on the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately undertake commitments in good faith and without setting preconditions to resume negotiations on the settlement with the assistance of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs,” the leaders said in a statement.

Notably according to preliminary information from the Armenian Embassy in Germany, Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev yesterday.

“During the telephone conversations, the escalation of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia was discussed during the telephone conversations. The Federal Chancellor stressed the urgent need to establish a ceasefire and return to the negotiating table. The OSCE Minsk Group is a tried and tested platform for resolving this issue. Neighboring states must contribute to a peaceful settlement.”
