The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus has expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and condemns the violation of the ceasefire by Azerbaijan, which has led to violent clashes that have resulted in civilian casualties. The statement of the Cypriot Foreign Ministry was spread by the Greek city time.
“We urge all parties to show restraint and cease hostilities in order to reduce tensions as soon as possible,” the statement said.
In the light of developments, Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulidis had a telephone conversation with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, during which the latter informed him about the development of the situation. In his turn, Mr. Christodoulidis informed Mnatsakanyan about the support of the Government of Cyprus for the peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, and condemned any action and intervention of third parties.
It should be noted that Greece promised Armenia to support the de-escalation of the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh.
