First-Graders’ “Extraordinary” Entry to School

The first graders entered the school for the first time today, on 14 September. Due to Covid-19, a number of anti-epidemic rules will apply during the new school year, which must be observed.

Iravaban.net today visited the school N 57 of the Armenian State Pedagogical University, 71 basic schools after Nelson Stepanyan, trying to find out from teachers and children what difficulties they encountered.

Naira Toghanyan, the principal of ASPU Basic School No. 57, said that everyone wears masks and they do not know what will happen next, but they will do their best to finish the school year successfully and not go online again.

The schools will be disinfected every day, they have masks according to the Commandant’s instructions, and there are disinfectants in the classrooms and corridors. However, children did not always wear the mask correctly.  Health Minister Arsen Torosian on 11 September issued a decree stating that a person has to be a mask so that it closes the nose and mouth with no gaps between the face and the mask. Do not touch the mask during use, in case of contact, hands should be disinfected with alcohol liquid and washed with soap.

It should be noted that the children had to go to school accompanied by one parent, but many came to school, not only with their parents, but in some cases even with their grandparents.

When the instructions of the Commandant regulating school attendance were published, many of the parents complained about them, but today there were no absences among the first graders in these two schools.

If the children had difficulty breathing during the lesson, they approached the window with the teacher’s permission.
