American actor Tom Hanks said he and his wife, Rita Wilson, had passed a coronavirus test, which showed a positive result.
He wrote about it on his Twitter, Washingtonpost reports.
The 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor said he was in Australia following the instructions of medical staff.
“Rita had a cold and a slight fever that came and went. Understanding the situation and taking into account what needs to be done in the world now, we passed a coronavirus test, which showed a positive result,” the actor said, adding that they were following the instructions of health care providers and would be isolated as long as needed for public health security.
Hanks is the first American celebrity to publicly announce a coronavirus diagnosis.
