At a parliamentary session in Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his opinion on Uzbekistan’s possible membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
“We will not join this union. Uzbekistan has begun processing $ 2 billion worth of fruit and vegetables. Where will we ship the finished product? Who is waiting for us? True, it is more expensive in Europe, but standards must be set,” the Uzbek president said. This is reported by kun.uz.
The Uzbek President stressed that the observer at the EAEU is not a member of the union.
Earlier it was reported that the issue of Uzbekistan’s observer status in the EAEU could be resolved in 2020.
