No Financial Rewards for Whistleblowers are envisaged: The 2019-2022 Anti-Corruption Strategy is being discussed

An event dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day is currently being held in the framework of the WE-funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project.

Syuzanna Soghomonyan, the Government-Civil Society Dialogue Coordinator/Lawyer of the project asked the Deputy Minister of Justice, Suren Krmoyan, whether it is envisaged to introduce a system of incentives for whistleblowers, as the project envisages implementation of public awareness about the incentives to encourage the whistleblowing, and which actually does not exist in practice.

“We have not envisaged financial rewards for whistleblowers. We encourage them by showing the further problems and prevent the crimes,” the Deputy Minister mentioned.

In reply to Susanna Soghomonyan’s question whether the introduction of the beneficial owners’ institute also involves disclosure of information about the real owners of legal entities in the registry, SSuren Krmoyan said that the issue who would be included in the registries is in the discussion stage yet, and it would be decided as a result of those discussions, “It is also possible that a threshold for monetary assets will be set, and those who have more would be included in the registry.”
