At the press-conference organized in the RA Police, the relatives of Garnik Hovakimyan and Edgar Soghomonyan, the members of the armed group which has captured the Police Patrol Service Regiment of RA, applied to Pavlik Manukyan asking to release their sons.
Edgar Soghmonyan’s father Meruzhan Soghmonyan, who is A class disabled, said that his son does not know “Sasna Tsrer (“Daredevils of Sassoun” )” battalion guys, he has never been interested in politics, has not served in the army and doesn’t even know how to shoot: “I ask Pavlik Manoukyan to give my son to me. I’m an A class disabled and I have not used the restroom for a few days. He is the one who helps me.”
He said that they live in Spitak (Gyumri), his son is 30 years old and is engaged. Edgar earns their living by working mainly in construction. They have information that 6 members of the armed group are from Spitak. They were called to go to a rally for an hour and after this no one has seen them.
Garnik Hovakimyan’s mother said, that her son lives in Russia and has a family, a wife and a child. A month ago he came to Armenia to change his passport: “My son has never had connections with the “Organizing Group”.
Let us recall that in the morning of July 17, the group “Daredevils of Sassoun” entered the area of the Police Patrol Service Regiment of the RA and they keep 4 policemen as hostages there. Deputy Chief of Police Valeriy Osipyan and Deputy Chief of Police Vardan Yeghiazaryan are among them.
