As it was informed the police arrested the director of analitik.am news website, his assistant and the head of the news club. According to the information of the police, on May 2nd, a member of the RA National Assembly reported to the police that analitik.am journalistic website manager regularly published defaming and slanderous materials regarding his person and family members, and would continue to publish those materials unless they were paid 300,000 AMD per month.
Then the representative of the MP conducted negotiations on behalf of the deputy with the manager of the site. An agreement was reached that 300,000 must be paid by the 5th of each month to either the manager or their assistant.
On May 3rd, police officers of the Department against corruption and economic activities subdivision of the investigation committee arrested the website manager after the latter took the 300,000 in one of the cafés on Nalbandyan Street at 3:00 pm per a prior arrangement.
The press has already published information that the victims of extortion was the deputy Tigran Urikhanyan; and the sponsor of “Analytic” media is Arsen Babayan, the Head of the NA Public Relations Department. Howver in the inetreview with iravaban.net the latter denied his connection with the crime.
“That’s a slander. Moreover, since we are talking about a crime, then I consider this is false denouncement against me,” Arsen Babayan said. In reply to our queistion whether he was going to take the appropriate steps for insulting his honor and dignity, he answered that he had not yet decided.
