Yesterday, we wrote about 20- year-old Sargis Gasparyan’s heroism. Some time before, Iravaban net learned from his sister that the soldier has died. She provided us her open letter to the RA Minister of Defense.
“Dear Minister,
I am Inga Gasparyan, the sister of the late 20-year-old soldier Sargis Gasparyan, who was deadly wounded in Talish.”
I am not sure whether this is an application or a request, or maybe I shall just talk about my late, innocent, and lionhearted brother who loved his friend and gave his life for his friend.
I believe there is no need to mention the pain, suffering and distress that his death caused to my family and all those who know him, and why not also you and the whole Armenian nation.
It is really difficult for me to write this letter, because tears rolled down my face with every letter I write. But I have to write! You must know about his heroism. Sargis had completed his conscript service on 5 February, but in early April when the situation of war was escalated, he volunteered and went to the frontline. He stayed in the positions for 20 days. Unfortunately on the night of 29 to the morning of 30 April, the enemy renewed shooting.
My brother saw his friend Vazgen Harutyunyan fell wounded and he rushed to save his friend. UnfortunatelyVazgen was deadly wounded and it was impossible to save him. Just at this moment the enemy’s bullet wounded my brother as well. First he got a wound on his leg, then he was wounded in the belly. I was а perforating wound. As a result, all the internal organs except the heart were damaged.
As Sasun, his friend who saved him told, Sargis had not understood that he was wounded in the belly. He thought that the wound was in his leg and the feeling of weakness and pain was the result of the leg wound. Sasun asked him, “Are you afraid Sargis? How are you?” Sargis answered, “No, I am well. Simply I feel some warmth in the belly.
But Sasun knew, why Sargis felt warmth in the belly. Sargis Gasparyan was wounded at 10:20 in the evening. He was brought to the hospital at 00:40, where the doctors immediately operated on him. After the emergency surgery in Martakert, when the condition was slightly stabilized, he was taken to a hospital in Stepanakert to the intensive care unit․ His health condition remained critical, but he struggled for life in the intensive care unit for 36 hours, and then his health condition dramatically worsened.
The doctors did not understand what the problem was, but quickly took him to surgical room. Unfortunately, all this was in vain. Sargis Gasparyan died on at the night of 1 to 2 May.
Dear Minister, I have only one request, please be present at the ceremony of my brother’s funeral and hand the hero’s medal there, because he is our real hero. Also pleases help my parents to find a job. They are looking for job on everyday basis, My father has some health problems, and my mothers salary is only 24 thousand AMD which is to be used to support the family and to repay the loan. I hope my words reach you, and you will not pass indifferently by our hero.”
