Human Rights Defender conducted a research of the RA Draft Electoral Code by self-initiative taking into account the vital role of Electoral Legislation in the process of strengthening democracy and securing human rights.
The recommendations formed as a result of research refer to:
1. ensuring video recording of the voting process and definition of the necessary criteria,
2. the expand the maximum number of the representatives of local observers and mass media in the voting room,
3. publication of citizens’ list who take part in voting in accordance with the requirements of international organizations and the Constitutional Court of the RA,
4. ensure conditions for implementation of the voter’s rights of people with disabilities and definition of the necessary legislative rules for that purpose,
5. guarantee the voter’s right of the women to ensure proper participation of women in voting,
6. definition of the legal status of the new participant – specialist in the election process,
7. ensure appropriate conditions in the voting room or at the session of the commission for registration of the observers and mass media representatives,
8. make the regulations of the Draft related to Yerevan equally applicable for Gyumri and Vanadzor cities.
The mentioned recommendations were presented to the RA Government and the RA National Assembly in the manner prescribed.
