Today, the Court of Cassation continued examination of David Mnatsakanyan’s case. Earlier iravaban.net reflected to this exclusive criminal case in which the prosecutor requested to apply a lenient punishment and conditionally not to apply punishment for the defendant who was sentenced to four years imprisonment by the Court of First Instance.
During today’s hearing Daniel Gevorgyan, the defense attorney of the defendant David Mnatsakanyan submitted to the court some documents in which informed that the family lived in poor conditions, the children had health problems related to vision, lungs, heart and more. His twin sons are in military age, but if they both pass the service, the sisters will be helpless. This is why only one of the brothers was drafted, while the other takes care of the sisters. By the way, the younger sister is still a minor.
Today, before the start of the hearing, when the defendant David Mnatsakanyan was brought into the courtroom, the little daughter threw herself into her father’s arms. But in a few seconds she was crying in her place.
After the submission of the documents referring to the social and health condition of the family and its attachment to the case, the Court of Cassation, under the presidency of the judge Mher Arghamanyan, and Judges Mkhitar Papoyan and Sergey Chichoyan went into the deliberation room.
After some time, the court announced the verdict, which upheld the complaints of the defense attorney and the prosecutor; the punishment was changed and four years of probation was appointed. The Court also abolished the custody and the defendant was released from the courtroom. After the announcement of the decision, the defendant shook the hands of the judges expressing his gratitude.
