Verdict of Acquittal: The Prosecutor demanded 6 Years Imprisonment

Today, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative districts, presided by Judge Armen Bektashyan, he acquitted 30-year-old Artur Hakobyan who was accused for falsification of money.

According to the indictment, on 14 February 2009, at 19.00 pm, near their house on 9 May street in Yerevan, based on the preliminary agreement with his neighbor Erik Babayan, he gave apparently false 43 banknotes of 1000 AMD nominal value, which have the same serial number T03614923 for sale. They agreed that after realization of the false banknotes, he will give 10.000 AMD to Erik Babayan. On the same day, after realization of the false money Artur Hakobyan received 10.000 AMD from Erik Babayan.

Georgy Meliksetyan, the defender of Artur Hakobyan’s interests wrote on his Facebook page: “Today, the Court of Kentron Districts under the presiding Judge Armen Bektashyan ruled an acquittal verdict for my client who was charged under the provisions of Article 202, Part 2 (2). The prosecutor demanded 6 years in prison. Actually, justice gets sick but do not die due to such judges as Mr. Bektashyan.”
