On 29 January 2015, the court hearing on Vardan Petrosyan’s case took place in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kotayk marz. Judge Vaghinak Mkrtchyan read the verdict.
According to the verdict Vardan Petrosyan was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He was deprived of the driver’s license for the term of 2 years. The injured party did not attend the court hearing. On the court decision 2 million 150 thousand AMD should be exacted from Vardan Petrosyan.
The Prosecution had solicited to sentence Vardan Petrosyan to 6and a half years in prison, to deprive of the driver’s license for the term of 3 years and to exact 500 thousand AMD.
Thus Vardan Petrosyan was found guilty for the fact that on 20 October 2013, his BMW car on the 2nd kilometer of Yeghvard-Yerevan highway conducted an improper and dangerous driving, as a result his car came out of the road and hit the “Niva” car which was parked in the non-traffic part of the road. As a result two people died and another four were got various degrees of injuries.
