Experts` Opinion on the Anti-Corruption and Integrity Fall School

As we already informed, on 16-21 October Anti-Corruption and Integrity Fall School took place in Tsakhkadzor.

It was organized by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association NGO and the Law Students Division of AYLA with the OSCE Yerevan`s office`s financial assistance. 20 young lawyers took part in the Fall School.

Within the framework of the School well-known Armenian lawyers delivered lectures. Iravaban.net gathered their opinions on the Fall School. This was a first-in-its-format Fall School in Armenia.

Marat Atovmyan. AYLA member. I find the organization of this Fall School quite important as the anti-corruption training is one of the most important directions of the anti-corruption struggle, and this Fall School was to some extent directed at filling that gap. Within the Fall School framework several young lawyers of various universities, who already graduated and work in different institutions, including state bodies, gained valuable knowledge on the anti-corruption struggle and integrity.

Gabriel Balayan. Candidate of Law, Docent. This is undoubtedly an initiative to be welcomed: many healthy debates took place in the framework of the lectures. The participants were wisely selected, the discussions gave reasons for further contemplation stating the growth of the worldview and knowledge of the youngsters.

Syuzanna Soghomonyan. AYLA member, Advocate. It is not secret that the fight against corruption has gained a great pace recently. AYLA marks the importance of youth participation in this regard, it is also worth mentioning that the training of the young lawyers is one of the main aims of our organization, so we initiated this first Fall School in Armenia and we intend to ensure its continuation.

Yeghishe Kirakosyan. Candidate of Law, RA Constitutional Court Consultant. I think that the topic of Anti-Corruption and Integrity has been particularly selected as it is one of the main topical issues of today. Armenia is on a very important stage now. With regard to those reforms, the Concept of Public Integrity in the state administration sector has been established, and the strategy is being developed. It is important that the youth from this very age start to acknowledge these matters. The concept of integrity is a new phenomenon in our society and for our legal mindset. It is an indicative factor for the positive aspect of the state administration. Conscientious state administration or public serviceman – these are the main values to which the whole package of these reforms strives to.
