Today, March 17, a hearing was held at the Anti-Corruption Criminal Court in the case of former Supreme Judicial Council Chairman Ruben Vardazaryan. The session is presided over by Judge Vahe Dolmazyan.
According to Iravaban.net, at the beginning of the session, the presiding judge asked the public prosecutor to state whether the latter is withdrawing the charges or not. The latter gave a negative answer. Dolmazyan then gave the defendant the opportunity to make a “final statement.”
“I had decided to waive my right to a final statement, but today I noticed some information in the press, and I would like to briefly present my final statement in a couple of minutes, taking into account this change.
Today, one of the websites at 14:23, not even an hour ago, published an article: ‘False information: Pashinyan’s voice speaking Turkish was generated through artificial intelligence.’ Why am I mentioning this publication found in the press: there is no evidence in the criminal case materials that the recording presented by the witness was not generated through artificial intelligence.
Moreover, why is this material important, in my opinion, because it mentions that the video was generated through artificial intelligence, and both the lip movement and the Turkish speech are made quite qualitatively.
This means that it is much easier to generate a recording through artificial intelligence rather than a video.
There is no evidence in the case, no examination showing that it wasn’t done through AI, no evidence that it is Ruben Vardazaryan’s speech, that the recording is not edited. Moreover, I am sure that the information I provided is not of interest to the presiding judge, but my words were more directed to the media representatives, higher instances, and more, perhaps, to the ECHR,” Ruben Vardazaryan noted in court.
Vahe Domlazyan announced that the court is retreating to the deliberation room to issue a verdict.
