The Housing Program is very derogating: Armen Chomoyan on the Legal Problems of Artsakh Armenians

Armen Chomoyan, the former Head of the Haykazyan Community of the occupied Artsakh Republic, told in the framework of “Legal Problems of Artsakh Armenians in Armenia” series of Iravaban.net that their village was occupied in 2020. Around 300 residents of the village were forcibly displaced.

Hayk Chomoyan moved to Armenia in 2020. He says that here they have faced a number of problems, which have not yet been resolved..

“It was a nightmare when we came to Armenia. We felt that we lived in a different area, like in some African country, that was how we were “welcomed” in Armenia. It was a surprise for us, because we have a passport of the Republic of Armenia, which is guaranteed by the RA Government. The problems that we faced were very big. Beginning with the service of court documents, records of the car registration, and everything, and most importantly, the problem of citizenship,” he said.

According to him, before the war it made no difference whether they were citizens of Artsakh or Armenia, they could use the services of Armenian banks and take out mortgage loans.
