A Group of Armenian Public and Political Figures visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Armenia

Today, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Ukraine and as a sign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine who are heroically fighting against Russian aggression, a group of Armenian public and political figures and experts visited the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia. Among them were Azat Arshakyan, a member of the first parliament of newly independent Armenia, a dissident from the Soviet period, a comrade-in-arms of Ukrainian dissidents Yurii Shukhevich, Vasil Stus, Vyacheslav Chernovil and others, well-known human rights activist Artur Sakunts,  Chairman of the European Party of Armenia Tigran Khzmalyan, Vice President of the  “For the Republic” Party Ruben Mehrabyan and Board Member Arnold Bleyan, Publicist Armen Hovhannisyan, President of the Center for Policy Studies Armen Grigoryan and EaP CSF ANP Facilitator Hovsep Khurshudyan.

They congratulated the people of Ukraine on the Independence Day of Ukraine in the presence of Victor Gonchar, the charge d’affaires of Ukrains in Armenia, military attaché Igor Zhadan, diplomats of the Embassy. They also expressed their deep condolences on the recent death of Alexander Senchenko, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia, as a result of an accident.

The Armenian guests were interested in the situation in the war. The Ukrainian diplomats presented the difficult humanitarian situation caused by the Russian aggression, as well as the successes of the armed forces of Ukraine in liberating their homeland.

The prospects for the development of relations between Armenia and Ukraine, the areas of possible cooperation, including between civil societies, were discussed.
