They want to re-elect the husband of the Deputy Prosecutor General’s sister as a member of the Corruption Prevention Commission through a veiled competition

Aramayis Pashinyan was declared the winner of the tender for selection of a candidate for vacant position of the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission (CPC). It should be noted that he still holds the position of a CPC member.

The tender for the selection of a candidate was announced on 19 January, 2023, the corresponding announcement was posted on the official website of the National Assembly.

At the meeting on 10 February, the Council decided to approve Aramayis Pashinyan’s application. An interview was conducted with him within 20 days. The website of the National Assembly also published about the interview stage of the candidate for the vacant position of the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission. As a result, on 24 March, the Council decided to nominate Aramayis Pashinyan as a candidate for the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission.

Basically, the existence of the Competition Council was not justified. There was one application and one candidate. The Council approved the candidate and most likely, Pashinyan will be elected a member of the Commission for the second time. In fact, it turns out that they want to elect a member of the Corruption Prevention Commission for the second time in a row, through a veiled competition, without real competition, and without alternative candidates.

Earlier we wrote that Aramayis Pashinyan’s autobiography in no way reveals his connection with the SJC and a reasonable question as to why the SJC nominated him arose among the public. However, as a result of the study of open data, it became clear that he is the husband of Lilit Galyan, the sister of Srbuhi Galyan, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, coordinating the field of functions aimed at confiscation of property of illicit origin, Third Class State Councillor of Justice.

Back in 2019, when the members of the Commission were elected, their candidacies were nominated by the 3 parliamentary factions, the RA Government and the Supreme Judicial Council.

At that time, Aramayis Pashinyan was nominated by the Supreme Judicial Council (for: 85, against: 16, invalid: 1).
