Lukashenko says Belarus is not going to fight Ukraine, but the air defense system was brought to combat readiness

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has stated that Belarus does not intend to take part in Russia’s war against Ukraine. He said this at a meeting with members of the Security Council and the leadership of the Council of Ministers, BELTA reports.

“At the same time, the Belarusian army has not taken and does not take any part in the hostilities. We can prove it to anyone, Moreover, the Russian leadership has never raised this issue with us – about our participation in the armed conflict, ” Alexander Lukashenko stressed. “We are not going to continue to participate in this special operation in Ukraine. There is no such need,” he said.

Lukashenko said that the Belarusian army covers the state border from Brest to Mazyr “in order to prevent the infiltration of weapons by radicals”.

At the same time, according to Lukashenka, air defense systems in Belarus have been brought to combat readiness in order to prevent “striking Russian troops from behind”.

“The Minister of Defense informed me that he was ready to cover the western border with five more battalions,” he said.
