The WHO announced an increase in mortality from coronavirus for the first time in two months

The number of cases of coronavirus infection and deaths from COVID-19 in the world are growing for the first time in two months, said Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

RIA Novosti reported.

The official explained that despite the decrease in the number of infections outside Europe, the increase in cases on the continent has overshadowed these numbers.

“This is another reminder that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over,” the WHO website says.

Among the reasons for the spread of the infection, he named inequality in the access of different countries and regions to the tools to fight the pandemic – tests and vaccines.

According to the WHO, since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 244 million cases of coronavirus infection and over 4.95 million deaths have been registered in the world. The most difficult situation is developing in the USA, India and Brazil.
