Putin had a telephone conversation with Aliyev

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Discussions on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh continued, with an emphasis on resolving practical tasks for security and stability in the region, which are in line with the 9 November 2020 and 11 January, 2021 statements,” the statement of the Kremlin reads.

In this context, attention was paid to the recent incident on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. The general mood is that the settlement will be carried out exclusively by political-diplomatic methods. The Russian side will continue its mediation efforts and consulting assistance aimed at reaching an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia on starting the process of demarcation of the state border.

Putin and Aliyev also exchanged views on important issues on the bilateral agenda. The Azerbaijani leader expressed his sincere gratitude for the continuous supply of Russian vaccines.

It is noted that the leaders expressed mutual interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in all spheres.

“Intensive contacts between governments, relevant ministries and departments will be aimed at this,” the Kremlin said.
