163 judges participated in the General Assembly of the RA Judges:Judicial Department

The Judicial Department issued a statement saying:

“Adhering to the unpopular approach of reporting misinformation on the judiciary, one of the electronic media outlets referred to the sitting of the General Assembly of Judges of the Republic of Armenia a few days ago, published a directed information that has nothing to do with reality, labeling the course of the meeting, the judges, reserving the right to make assessments on behalf of the participants as a majority.

Taking into account the public accountability, in order to provide the public with objective and truthful information on the agenda of the General Assembly of the RA Judges, to avoid misinformation, we consider it necessary to inform that 163 judges participated in the General Meeting of the RA Judges convened on 7 May this year (the presence of 115 judges was required for the quorum).

The participant of the meeting proposed to include an additional issue in the agenda, which was rejected by voting.

The agenda of the General Assembly was saturated, a number of important issues aimed at ensuring the normal functioning of the judiciary were discussed, and key decisions were made.

The sitting was held in an atmosphere of constructive, working pluralism.

During the General Assembly, the message of the Council addressed to the judges of the Republic was published by a member of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Armenia, using constructive and cooperative work.”
