There are quite many missing people, who in many cases are the only breadwinners of the family․ What social guarantees will their families have? Today, on 18 November, during a question and answer session with the government, MP Nazeli Baghdasaryan asked a question to the Minister of Defense.

“In fact, before the status is clarified, these people’s families become socially vulnerable. As you know, the process of becoming a beneficiary of the life and health compensation fund is quite long, due to the fact that they are unknown,” the MP said, noting whether there are changes observations on the problem.

“A commission has been set up in the Ministry of Defense, which works very closely with the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as with the Russian peacekeeping contingent today. Extensive work is being done in terms of specification. The list of missing persons has a decreasing tendency at the moment, because as a result of the corrections it turns out that quite a lot of missing persons appear in the lists, which are alive, everything was simply wrong in terms of their registration.

“Indeed, we have initiated, we have initiated a legislative change, but there will be corrections – opportunities to use the fund, the state budget,” Defense Minister David Tonoyan said.
