According to the White House, the United States is urging Azerbaijan to accept a ceasefire with Armenia

The United States is urging the Azerbaijani authorities to adopt a ceasefire with Armenia, which has already agreed to the proposal. This was announced on Sunday by US National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien in an interview with CBS.

“We are busy reaching a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia has accepted the ceasefire offer, but Azerbaijan has not yet accepted it. “We urge them [the Azerbaijani authorities] to do so [to accept the ceasefire proposal],” he said.

Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Baku is ready for a ceasefire, if Yerevan declares its adherence to the basic principles of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and O’Brien in Washington on Friday. US officials also held similar talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov: the meetings were held separately.
