As of 24 March, 18:00, the number of coronavirus cases in Armenia has increased to 249, increasing by 14, two of them have recovered, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

“One of the patients is in extremely serious condition and the other four are in serious condition. There are 11 people over the age of 65 among the infected, 5 people over the age of 70, and there is no patient over the age of 80,” he said.

“As far as the geography of Coronavirus, we have infections in Yerevan, Armavir, Ararat, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Syunik, Shirak and Lori regions at the moment. The origin of most cases is known. We have had 3 developing branches of the spread of coronavirus: compatriots from Iran, from Echmiadzin and from the Yerevan workshop,” Pashinyan said.

He noted that the development of the first two branches had succeeded to prevent, but the branch of the plant had uncontrolled development, with new cases being reported in other workshops of Yerevan and Charentsavan.

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Armenia, restrictions have been tightened for a week, only the activities of vital organizations will be allowed, citizens who in the streets must have passports with them, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated.

“Citizens who come out to the street must have a clear explanation of where they are going, and that explanation should fit into the logic of vital movement. All citizens on the move must have a personal identification document, and the Commandant’s Office will set a mandatory requirement for the citizen to fill out a form,” the Prime Minister said.

Pashinyan noted that all restaurants, cafes, shops, pharmacies and banks would be closed, but provide online services. All banks, shops, pharmacies will serve only 65+ citizens between 10-12am.

He urged not to gather in groups of more than two, to strictly follow the exhortation to stay home.
