Tatevik Revazyan about the 15 March Flight from Rome to Yerevan and Dangers

Tatevik Revazyan, head of the Civil Aviation Committee, told reporters after the 13 March cabinet meeting that there will be special measures for citizens returning to Armenia on a special flight from Italy on 15 March.

“We are in the organizational stage, so the answers to all the questions are not really grounded. We are working very closely with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to understand the final number of those in Italy, to know how they are grouped, who we are traveling with, and how we can organize the flight so as to reduce the possibility of infecting each other,” Revazyan said.

She noted that there are both tourists and students in Italy.

“Closing the airspace seems like a step that will solve all our problems, but I can say that the problem can be aggravated because the same passengers who came and were infected, if coming through transit, would have made the situation more difficult. We have a straight flight; we can arrange specific events at the airport, separate from other passengers, so that they would not contact. And when they come in transit, it makes it much more difficult,” she said.

She also said it was too early to talk about stopping flights with other countries.

Notably, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan had issued a statement that this Sunday, on 15March, the Armenian Atlantis European Airways will launch a charter flight from Rome to Yerevan, financed by the Armenian government, Atlantis European Airways and “Armenia International Airports” Company.
