On 6 March, the National Assembly is discussing the draft law on amendments to the RA Law on Non-Governmental Organizations, which proposes that reporting should be mandatory for NGOs.
SRC Chairman David Ananyan noted during the presentation of the draft law that there is a provision in the current law that requires reporting of NGOs only when the organization receives public funds.
“On the one hand, we have NGOs that do not receive public funds and are not transparent at all and do not report to the public in sense of accountability, and on the basis of the current requirement, those receiving public funds should be transparent. We set a reporting requirement for all NGOs to ensure full transparency.”
