The new procedure for issuing a permanent residence permit (green card) will start in the United States on 24 February.
The White House press service reported, RIA Novosti informs.
The new procedure provides for tightening of requirements for applicants who are expecting public benefits.
“The Department of Homeland Security will be able to apply the new legislation as of Monday. Accordingly, new members of our society must be financially independent,” the White House said in a statement. In October last year, the US administration’s decision which would support to decline the low-income, green-card or visa-seeking migrants, which the government believes could become a heavy burden for US taxpayers, was suspended.
