Biography of Judge Gagik Heboyan who was sentenced to 7 Years in Prison?

On November 20, the Yerevan Court of First Instance, presided by Judge Tatevik Grigoryan, announced the verdict in the case of Gagik Heboyan, accused of bribery. He was sentenced to 7 years and Vahagn Danielyan, a lawyer accused of assisting with bribery, was sentenced to two years in prison.

“The court ruled Gagik Heboyan guilty of committing the criminal offense provided for in Article 311 2 4 (2) and (3) and sentenced him to 7 years in prison, with confiscation of property, but not more than 1 million 714 thousand 160 AMD. He will serve the term in the relevant penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice, commencing the sentence on 28 March, 2019,” the final part of the verdict reads

The verdict will take effect one month later.

Gagik Heboyan was born in 1965 in Yerevan.

From 1983 to 1985 – served in the Soviet Army.

From 1987 to 1992 – studied at the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University.

From 1985 to 1990 – worked in the State Arbitration of the Republic of Armenia.

From 1990 to 1991 – worked as a legal adviser at Haymechmachine SPU.

From 1991 to 1993 – worked as a Senior Consultant in the Record Publishing Division of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia.

From 1993 to 1998 – worked as a senior advisor in the legal service of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia, further in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

From 1998 to 1999 – worked as a senior advisor at the Judicial Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

Since 1999 up to present he has been working as a judge of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kotayk Marz.
