The Judge was sentenced to 7 Years in Prison; the Advocate to 2 Years: the verdict on Bribery Case was announced

Judge Gagik Heboyan, accused of bribery, was sentenced to 7 years, and advocate Vahagn Danielyan was sentenced to two years in prison. The office of Judge Tatevik Grigoryan informed the Iravaban.net about it.

“The court ruled Gagik Heboyan guilty of committing the criminal offense provided for in Article 311 2 4 (2) and (3) and sentenced him to 7 years in prison, with confiscation of property, but not more than 1 million 714 thousand 160 AMD. He will serve the term in the relevant penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice, commencing the sentence on 28 March, 2019,” the final part of the verdict reads

The verdict will take effect one month later.

It should be reminded that Gagik Heboyan was charged for receiving a particularly large bribe in accordance with Article 311 (2) and (3) of the RA Criminal Code.

Vahagn Danielyan was charged with assisting the judge in receiving a particularly large amount of bribe in accordance with Article 38-311Clause 4 (2) and (3) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

Detention was applied as measure of restraint against Heboyan. The measure of restraint detention applied against Danielyan was replaced with an alternative preventive measure bail on 08.05.2019.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is over. The case was sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to send it to court.

Notice: a person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in the manner of prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code in accordance with the Court’s verdict made it effective.
