Visits of the Ombudsman’s Office to Yerevan Police Department have revealed that persons detained in a number of sections are kept for more than a fixed time.
The Human Rights Defender’s Office has issued this statement.
Measures are taken to identify the grounds for their detention and to take legal action on that basis.
It should be noted that from the very beginning of the rallies in Yerevan the staff of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia closely monitors the process.
An emergency schedule has been set up, working groups have been formed, which, according to professional orientation, carry out round-the-clock monitoring of the assemblies, as well as visits to the participants of the gatherings in police isolators and both monitoring of media publications and social network.
