On 12 May, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts presided by Judge Mesrop Makeyan, continued the case of the activist Narek Hakobyan, who had protested against the electricity price.
The Court interrogated witness, activists, Harutyun Aghlamazyan who said that he knew Narek Hakobyan from the protest actions.
The witness considered the fact of their detention last year as unjustified. Harutyun Aghlamazyan claimed that the police did not make any calls to release the territory. “The police simply caught from the hands and feet of the activists who were standing still put them in the police cars and rook them to the department.” The activist also added that he had not seen any violence on Narek’s part, neither any action was observed.
Narek Hakobyan was charged with the fact that on 23 June 2014 at the protest action he applied non hazardous violence against the representative of the power, staff sergeant of the RA Police K.Saghatelyan causing him bodily injuries not dangerous for life or health. The protest action was against the rise of electricity prices.
The defendant’s advocate asked for time to submit the documents available in the next session.
The court granted the motion, and provided time to prepare the examination of the documents. The trial was postponed..
