The representatives of small and medium entrepreneurs who are dissatisfied with the “Law on Turnover Tax” have gathered in front of the RA Government building today, on 29 January. Several hundred traders participate in the protest action demanding to suspend the controversial provisions of the law.
Aleksandr Ghazaryan, Head of Department for Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions of the Government met with the protestors. He mentioned that the Prime Minister could not accept the delegation of the traders just at that moment. The protesters decided to move to the Presidential Palace.
The protest turned into a march, the traders are moving to the presidential residence.
The amended Law on Turnover Tax came into force on 1 October 2014. According to it the turnover tax of the commercial companies was reduced instead the related paperwork increased.
As a result of the protest action Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan instructed to postpone the inventory requirement of the law till 1 February 2015.
