From anti-corruption training to shooting and swimming: The fall school was launched

The Anti-corruption and integrity fall school was launched. The opening took place in Tsakhkadzor on 17 October.

“This is a unique opportunity for students and young lawyers. As far as I am informed, this is the first in its type school in the Republic of Armenia. The international practice shows that similar schools exist in many countries of the world. Armenia also joins these countries”, said the President of AYLA, advocate and the author of the idea Karen Zadoyan at the Opening of the Fall School.

Congratulating the participants he said: “We hope that at the end of the school you`ll have the opportunity to apply in your every-day lives the values and the knowledge you`ll gain here. Professional experts will deliver lectures to you”, he concluded.

Head of the Anti-Corruption program of the OSCE Yerevan office Naira Gyulnazaryan wished effective discussions to the participants. “Try to make this continual, as this kind of schools are very important for young lawyers”, marked Mrs Gyulnazaryan.

During the 5-day school the participants will get theoretical and practical knowledge. During the first day AYLA President Karen Zadoyan will deliever a lecture on the following topic: “Anti-corruption struggle. historical overview, lessons learned and further activities”, as well as member of the AYLA Board, advocate Marat Atovmyan on the topic “Interrelationship between the good governance and corruption, and the typology of corruption”.

On the second day Candidate of Law, docent Gabriel Balayan presented RA state control system and its constitutional-legal framework, making comparisons with the leading international practice.

After each lecture the participants were strengthening their knowledge through group work and debating on the assigned topics. During these two days the program was quite intensive not only with knowledge-sharing programs, but also sport games and contests. The youngsters took part in the competition of shooting and swimming. The winners were awarded with certificates.

“It is quite an important program, during these two days we got a lot of knowledge, combining that process with passing pleasant time”, “The anti-corruption and integrity fall school is essential in terms of legal knowledge. We not only get theoretical knowledge, but also get chance to apply it during the group works”, “I am sure we still have  a lot to learn, this schools gives much to us”, – shared their opinions the school participants.

The school will last till 21 October. In this period lectures will be held on the fight against corruption and concept of integrity.

The Anti-Corruption and Integrity Fall School was organized by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association NGO and the Division of Young Lawyers of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association NGO with the OSCE Yerevan office`s financial assistance. The information partner of the fall school is Iravaban.net.
