Taking into account the poverty level of Armenia`s population, it is important to create alternative mechanisms of legal aid. With this purpose since 2013 every Thursday is announced an Open day at the Chamber of Advocates. “Citizens come here and get free legal aid, we carry this out through the Advocates` Chamber staff resources”, told Advocates` Chamber president Ara Zohrabyan to Iravaban.net, also adding: “We understood that the number of citizens is growing, and we also have statistics which will be also soon published. So we also called on advocates who want to help us on Thursdays, they come and take part. The number of people interested is high”.
Mr Zohrabyan also said that the Chamber has implemented the program on giving legal assistance to Syrian Armenians with its own means. “For any problem of Syrian-Armenians there were experts affiliated, who were providing legal consulting, if the person had any problem, then they were forming an application, etc. This factor is also important, so that we can help our co-patriots.”, said our interlocutor.
