Protest actions against the Law on the Status of Russian Language adopted by Rada, are taking place in Kiev, Capital city of the Ukraine. The protesters demand from the Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovich to refrain from signing the law.
According to Ukrainian “Korrespondent” website, today clashes took place between the participants of the protest action and the soldiers of Special Forces in front of the “House of Ukraine.” The police used tear gas.
Vitali Klichko, world champion in boxing also suffered from gas.
On 3 July the Ukrainian Rada adopted the Law on the Status of Russian Language, which caused dissatisfaction among the major part of the population. Vladimir Litvin, Speaker of the Rada had resigned after the law was passed. Many of his supporters have resigned as well. 5 deputies have gone on hunger strike. Some sources mention that the law was adopted during the break, and the Speaker did not take part in the vote.
