Iravaban.net spoke with young budget specialist Elena Harutyunyan about budget allocations for creating textbooks according to the new 2023-2024 standards and the number of textbooks.

She noted that they applied to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to obtain this data, and according to the response, 340.5 million drams were paid from the state budget as grants to organizations and individuals creating textbooks based on grant competitions for textbooks corresponding to the new standard in 2023-2024.

384,283 copies of 2nd grade textbooks were printed, for which 232.3 million drams were paid to printing houses from the state budget. The examination of these textbooks was carried out according to established procedures by expert committees formed of 8 people per subject. After completing the examination, experts were paid 84.3 million drams from the state budget.

“According to the official response, 42 textbook titles were recommended for use after examination. In 2024, 478.2 million drams were paid from the state budget as grants to organizations and individuals creating new textbooks,” she said.
