“It turns out that there is obvious discriminatory treatment toward legal services”: Vahe Astvatsatryan on the new taxation system for lawyers

By transferring legal services to the value-added tax field, we can assert that there is undue pressure here.

This was stated by Vahe Astvatsatryan, founder-director of “Best Solutions” law office and lawyer, in a conversation with Iravaban.net.

He noted that legal services are services of the main branch supporting justice and aimed at legal assistance, which are guaranteed by the Constitution, just as services related to human life and health are for medical institutions, which are also enshrined in the Constitution.

“When we make a comparison with medical services, and those services are not subject to value-added tax, while legal services are brought into the VAT field, it already turns out that there is obvious discriminatory treatment toward legal services. Besides, legal services by their nature are not at all similar to any other services or goods circulation operating in the VAT field. We don’t sell products, our services cannot have fixed values so that we can add value-added tax on that value,” said Vahe Astvatsatryan.
