“The word ‘create’ already obligates a lot: I was born in art” – painter Lilit Soghomonyan

Work for results, message, search for beauty, feelings – in art, the entirety of these and other images is reflected in the paintings of artist Lilit Soghomonyan.

How did she come to love art and everything connected with it? What role and significance does this life path have for her? What does she show in her paintings? Find the answers to these and other moving questions in the sixth part of the “Mystery of Creation” video series, implemented within the framework of the “ZArt” cultural project by Iravaban.net.

“ZArt” has a special mission: to build a bridge between art and society. The project aims to present Armenian artists and their exceptional works not only to Armenian society but also to the diaspora and abroad, contributing to the popularization of art and recognition of artists. Through this series of videos, society comes closer to art, and artists come closer to society, creating a beautiful space of cultural understanding.

Painter Lilit Soghomonyan’s very bright childhood was always filled with art; family members were also artists, and living in that world, she couldn’t imagine having any other more interesting occupation.

“Art has never been new to me; I was born into it, and I was searching more for myself. It was a means that greatly helped to find those answers.

One simply needs to have the desire to create. I think art is people’s purpose; there is not and should not be a greater purpose. A person needs to realize, feel that they are the only bearer, they need to appreciate it, immerse themselves in it,” she says.

Speaking about art, Lilit Soghomonyan notes that the senses are very important and are connected to a person’s mind, intellect, and worldview. Events in life allow the artist to observe everything from the side, and according to the painter, art should be in everyone’s life, but if you’re not ready to understand and love it, that door should be closed to you.

“A child should at least be shown that this door exists, not to be limited only by everyday life, which greatly impoverishes a person’s life. I think that in any case, the parent’s role is to try to show the wide possibilities of this world,” notes Lilit Soghomonyan, reaffirming her opinion that the word ‘create’ already obligates a lot, mentioning that for her, form is more important than content, because form provides the opportunity to perceive everything more strongly through the senses.

The originator and leader of the “ZArt” cultural project is Karen Zadoyan, and the author and director of “The Mystery of Creation” video series is Vazgen Ghukasyan.
