Deputies of the Georgian Parliament will vote on the issue of removing the country’s President Salome Zurabishvili from office this week, the chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream Party, Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Earlier on Monday, the Constitutional Court (CC) of Georgia found Zurabishvili to have violated the law as a result of her travel abroad contrary to the government ban, which allows to initiate an impeachment proceedings. The decision of the Constitutional Court must still be approved by the parliament; the parliamentary majority has 84 votes out of 150. If the parliament approves this decision, Zurabishvili will be considered removed from office by impeachment.
Earlier, the Georgian Government denied Zurabishvili’s visits to 10 foreign countries, including Germany, Ukraine, Israel and the UAE.
