The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to carry out tasks in the territory of Nagorno Karabakh. Continuous cooperation is maintained with Baku, Yerevan and Stepanakert aimed at preventing bloodshed, maintaining security and humanitarian rights for the civilian population, as well as ensuring the safety of the Russian peacekeeping troops. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
“With the intervention of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, an agreement was reached with the conflicting parties on the complete cessation of hostilities. The situation is monitored around the clock. Since 13:00 on 20 September, 2023, no case of violation of the ceasefire regime was recorded.
Since the beginning of active military operations, Russian peacekeepers have evacuated civilians from Martakert, Martuni and Askeran regions. 3154 people, including 1428 children, were handed over to the peacekeeping contingent.
All evacuated residents of Nagorno-Karabakh were provided with places to rest and hot food. Military doctors of the medical unit of the Russian Special Forces provided assistance to 16 civilians.
On 19 September, a convoy of Russian peacekeepers was fired upon while escorting civilians. As a result of the shelling, the BTR-82A armored personnel carrier of the Russian peacekeeping contingent was hit. There are no casualties among the peaceful population and peacekeepers,” the statement said.
