Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) responsible for monitoring the implementation of Armenia’s obligations, Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland) and Boriana Oberg (Sweden) visited the Berdzor road (Lachin Corridor – ed.) checkpoint connecting Armenia to Artsakh on 18 February and recorded its closure. The Syunik regional administration informed this on its “Facebook” page.
“On 18 February, the Governor of Syunik, Robert Ghukasyan, welcomed and accompanied the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), who arrived in Syunik on a fact-finding mission, responsible for monitoring the implementation of Armenia’s obligations, Kimmo Kilyunen from Finland and Boriana Oberg from Sweden. They were accompanied by the Vice-President of the National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan, and the Deputy of the National Assembly, Arusyak Julhakyan.
The co-rapporteurs met the Artsakh residents who took refuge in Syunik due to the closure of the Berdzor road. “We are here on a fact-finding mission to find out what is really happening on the Armenia-Artsakh border. We want to listen to you, to understand your feelings in order to present them in our reports,” Kimmo Kilyunen said.
The PACE representatives also visited the checkpoint of the road connecting Armenia to Artsakh and recorded the closure of the highway,” the message says.
