Today, President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
President Khachaturyan welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated him on the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, rendering his best wishes to the people of Iran in the person of the Ambassador.
“Our today’s meeting is conditioned by a very good occasion. It’s the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
I congratulate you, our Iranian partners and the people of Iran and offer my best wishes. I wish you success and, above all, peace.
Our centuries-old relations indicate that we have treated each other very friendly and respectfully, and we are bound to continue these traditions. Our countries cooperate closely, and we look into the future with the same spirit, in order to expand our cooperation, and make our countries more presentable to each other. It will be for the benefit of our peoples, will contribute to the strengthening of our countries and the increase of welfare,” said the President.
Ambassador Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri expressed his gratitude for the reception and the congratulations and shared an opinion that the Islamic Revolution had a positive impact on the neighbouring countries, too.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged ideas on giving a new impetus to the development of the Armenian-Iranian multi-layered cooperation and fully realizing the existing potential. They put a special emphasis on the implementation of joint projects in the fields of high technologies and mining, as well as in the establishment of communication channels and other areas providing wide opportunities for interaction.
Ambassador Zohouri gladly noted that, in spite of the challenges of the past year, there has been a significant increase in Armenian-Iranian trade and economic turnover, and it’s necessary to maintain and develop this pace. In his speech, the Ambassador also spoke of the positive tendency in the development of closer relations and cooperation between the Armenian and Iranian analytical centres.
During the meeting, both sides attached importance to the necessity to activate high-level contacts.
