On 24 January, 2023, the anti-corruption court accepted another lawsuit regarding confiscation of property of illegal origin.
The Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origln of the of the Prosecutor General’s Office submitted a request to the court to confiscate in favor of the Republic of Armenia from the former Governor of Tavush Marz H.A. and related to him persons:
- 11 immovable properties, five of which are in the city of Yerevan, six in the Tavush region, and in case of impossibility, their average market values: 1 billion 256 million 765 thousand drams, three movable properties, the right to participate in two legal entities.
- The purchase price of the shares bought in the Czech Company: 1 million 608 thousand 540 drams.
- 389 million 257 thousand 456 drams, which is not justified by the legal income of the person, has an illegal origin and cannot be confiscated based on the legal regulation of Article 20, Part 4 of the RA Law “On Confiscation of Property of Illegal Origin” (if the property of illegal origin was transferred to a bona fide acquirer, or it is impossible to identify, separate or confiscate it, then according to the court’s decision, in the presence of a corresponding demand, an amount equal to the market value of the property of illegal origin at the time of filing the claim can be confiscated from the defendant).
